Take a dash of BP and mix thoroughly with a cup of Amoco...

One of the most difficult things can be the merging of a pair of companies. In this case, when the merger of BP and Amoco was announced, it was trumpeted as the world's single largest corporate merger to date. Difficult or not, business needs to continue and work needed to be done to lubricate the way for the merger to complete successfully.

Adeas was called in to help with some of this smoothing and to build systems that would help the newly merged management team understand the environment they were taking over. One of BP/Amoco's largest assets is the BP/Amoco Pipeline. This set of facilities spans the entire continental United States and stretches to places beyond. It carries all of BP/Amoco's product from source through refining to destination and is one of the largest networks of its kind in the world.

Having all of these facilities, pipelines, valves and staff is a huge logistical nightmare waiting to happen. Adeas came in, converted spreadsheets, databases, and CAD files to create an all inclusive system that not only described every asset of the pipeline but added some side benefits as well. For example, if you as a pipeline manager needed to visit a facility, you could look it up, get an entire profile of this facility, click on a link and receive a full set of maps on how to get there as well.

The BP/Amoco merger went off without a hitch. We'd like to think it was our facility profile system - well we think big don't we?
